Cover medium to large outdoor areas with our Bosco polycarbonate aluminium veranda. This is a very popular model and benefits from 9 standard width sizes and 5 standard projection sizes.
Maximum size for one unit is 7m wide and 6m projection (2 gutter profiles jointed above 7m wide). Maximum distance between support posts is 4m and the posts can be inset for a cantilever style if required as well as unevenly spaced when there are 3 or more, as long as there is no more than 4m between any 2 posts.
The Bosco can have most of the optional extras fitted to the side and front to create an outdoor room if required, including sliding glass and folding glass doors. Lighting can also be incorporated and as with any outdoor living product to provide weather protection a massive array of infra red heaters are available to further enhance and make more comfort on the cooler days and evenings.

The Bosco is suitable where you want to use polycarbonate roofing and not glass. There is a size to suit most patios and garden sizes. We can provide purpose made sizes if required just call or email with details. You can cut the front posts to lower the height to suit your requirments. They are either supplied at 2500mm or 3000mm, with or without a foot fixing plate.
You have the choice of various polycarbonate roof types to suit either the slearest sunlight coming through or some shade or diffusion of light such as with the Opal option.
Every profile used is manufactured from aluminium and factory finished on one of 4 different standard colours.

  • RAL 9001 Cream
  • RAL 9016 White
  • RAL 7024 Grey
  • RAL 9005 Black

Choose your preferred front gutter profile design. Either a smooth and rounded front or a more victorian style sculpted design profile.
The front legs or posts can also be chosen as square or rounded front profile, considerably changing the final aesthetics for the veranda.

Fitted directly on to a supporting wall at the rear and then secured to the ground with either square foot plates or concreted directly into a concrete pad or block foundation, you have the flexibility as an open sided veranda to accomodate out of level ground simply by adjusting the post lengths to suit. Every veranda needs a concrete foundation of some sort to hold the support posts completely steady and give the stability to hold the entire structure stable. Many people create a raised concrete area for a veranda as would be traditonal and then tile or apply various decking options to the surface.

The Bosco aluminum veranda is supplied as standard with all posts, gutter profile, wall profile, beams, polycarbonate roofing sheets, cover strips and the necessary assembly materials.
Internal rainwater drainage components are supplied as standard for 2 posts with standard outlet at low level to the front of the posts. Drilling is required.

As standard, you have the choice between a modern smooth round or classic decorative front gutter profile and half-round or square front support posts.
The Bosco is available as standard in widths of 4060, 5060, 6060 or 7060 as a single section; there is no limit to the number of sections that can be joined end to end.
The roof can have a projection of 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000 or 6000 mm.

Important Note on Ordering Width Dimensions
The centre-to-centre distance between the beams of a Bosco veranda is 1000 mm (1 metre).A roof with five one-metre sections has a total width of 5060 mm. The extra 60 mm is the distance from the centre of the beam to the outside of the beam, which is 30 mm. This extra 30mm width is at both ends, for a total of 60 mm overall. If you order a 6000mm wide veranda the Overall width for the wall plate and front gutter profile will be 6060mm

Number of Front Posts
Up to an ordering size width of 4000mm (4060mm overall width) the Bosco requires 2 front support posts. Over the 4060mm exact width and up to 8000mm ordering width (8060mm exact width) there will be 3 posts. Above 8060mm overall exact width and up to 12060mm exact width, there will be 4 posts

Rainwater discharge
The Bosco veranda can be easily fitted with rainwater discharge by drilling one or more holes at the position where the front support post meets the horizontal gutter support profile. The post then serves as rainwater discharge pipe.
A range of rainwater discharge fittings are available for further connection (EPDM rubber drain ring, 50/60 mm leaf catcher, 60 mm rainwater discharge pipe and bend).

Dimensions & slope
• This aluminium veranda roof should be installed with a slope of 157mm per metre. (approx. 8 degrees)

The height of the aluminium wall profile and the front clear passage height (distance from bottom of gutter profile to the ground) are completely dependent on each other and determined by this slope.

Projection
The projection dimensions are from the back of the wall plate to the inside face of the front posts and the projection dimensions will never be the exact millimetre dimensions of the ordering options simply because of the roof pitch. If an exact millimetre dimension is required on your site please contact us and discuss.

Posts & joined verandas
• Maximum distance between the upright support posts is 4 metres.
• When verandas are joined, a post is always placed under the coupling.
• The rainwater discharge cannot be placed inside a post above which gutters are joined.

Dimensions and Installation
If you are going to install your veranda based on the standard dimensions as supplied, you can use the dimension table below.

Projection Beam Length Distance from back of wall
profile to inside of posts
Height from ground to
bottom of gutter profile
Height from ground to
bottom of wall profile
2500mm 2470mm 2440mm 2500mm 2880mm
3000mm 2970mm 2930mm 2500mm 2960mm
3500mm 3470mm 3430mm 2500mm 3040mm
4000mm 3970mm 3920mm 2500mm 3110mm
6000mm 6000mm 5920mm 2500mm 3420mm

If you require the back wall plate profile section lower or want to make the passage height of the gutter lower, you must:
Subtract the same millimetre dimensions from both these measurements. So if your wall profile is mounted 300mm lower, you must also shorten your front support posts by 300mm (or sink them into the ground a further 300mm) The angle (pitch) of the roof must be maintained.

If you want to reduce the passage height, you can easily shorten the length of the posts by making a square cut if you are fixing to the ground surface. However, you must then also mount the wall profile the same distance down lower on the wall.

The same applies if you decide or have to mount the wall profile lower on your wall.

Calculations for installation example:
You have a roof with a width of 3000mm and you want to reduce the standard passage height from 2500mm to 2200mm. You therefore shorten your posts by 300mm or you place the posts 300mm into the ground, so the bottom of your gutter is at a height of 2200mm. Your wall profile must therefore be lowered by 300mm, which means that the bottom of the wall profile must be placed at 2960mm - 300mm = 2660mm.

Ground Fixing
A Bosco veranda can be installed on any existing foundation or stone surface if it has sufficient depth and strength for screws or chemical fixings.
For added strength or when there is not a good foundation present, a pre cast concrete base can be used. These concrete bases can be easily installed out of sight under the posts with the supplied bolts. The concrete bases are available with or without a rainwater discharge opening in our online shop.
You could direct rainwater into existing drainage systems around your home if required using the underground drainage holes from these optional bases or into a soakaway.

When measuring for your veranda system please be aware of the ideal pitch of the roof being a drop of 157mm for every 1 metre projection. The slope required on the roof is for efficient rainwater dispersal and has been calculated for this. The standard passage height for a post with footplate is 2500mm and then 3000mm as standard withouth the footplate.
The finished height for the underside of the gutter profile can be adjusted and shortened by cutting the support posts as required on site.
Standard calculations are below for a 2500mm height to underside of guttering profile:

Projection Beam Length Distance from back of wall
profile to inside of posts
Height from ground to
bottom of gutter profile
Height from ground to
bottom of wall profile
2500mm 2470mm 2440mm 2500mm 2880mm
3000mm 2970mm 2930mm 2500mm 2960mm
3500mm 3470mm 3430mm 2500mm 3040mm
4000mm 3970mm 3920mm 2500mm 3110mm
6000mm 6000mm 5920mm 2500mm 3420mm

If you choose to place the wall profile lower or make the passage height of the gutter lower, you must: Subtract the same number of millimetres from both of these measurements. So if your wall profile is mounted 300mm lower, you must also shorten your posts by 300mm. If you want to reduce the passage height, you can easily shorten the length of the posts by making a square cut. However, you must then also mount the wall profile the same distance lower on the wall. The same applies if you decide to mount the wall profile lower on the wall.

Example:
You have a veranda roof with a projection of 3000mm and you want to reduce the standard under gutter passage height from 2500mm to 2200mm. You therefore shorten your posts by 300mm or you place the posts 300mm into the ground and concrete, so the bottom of your gutter is at a height of 2200mm. Your wall profile must therefore be lowered by 300mm, which means that the bottom of the wall profile must be placed at 2960mm - 300mm = 2660mm.
